It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of Joe Welch, who has been part of the Make-A-Wish New Jersey community since 1997. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Welch family.
Joe began volunteering for Make-A-Wish New Jersey in April of 1997, after hearing a presentation about the mission and need for volunteers during a Kiwanas meeting.
Joe had said, “Make-A-Wish changed my life by allowing me to do something that is meaningful and has a positive effect on people’s lives.” As a Wishgranting volunteer, Joe helped bring countless memories and magical moments to wish children in New Jersey. Joe also served as a mentor to new volunteers. He reminded fellow volunteers to do their very best and be satisfied with a job well done.
Though Joe has passed, his efforts to bring hope, strength, and joy to those who needed it most will be remembered by Make-A-Wish New Jersey staff members, volunteers, and the wish families he served.
