After Luke was diagnosed with leukemia, his life flipped upside down. He needed chemotherapy treatment three times per week and due to risk of infection, Luke was isolated at home, unable to go outside or see his friends.
When it came time to make his wish, Luke was eager to get out into the world and experience a place that he had only seen on commercials - “the happiest place on earth.” Luke’s wish was to go to Walt Disney World Resort ®!
Luke, his parents, and his brother CJ arrived full of excitement. They were delighted at their Candy Land themed accommodations and the countless activities surrounding them. Luke and CJ were eager to see everything and go on every ride, and that is exactly what they did. Thanks to their VIP passes, the boys were able to cut lines, meet every Disney character, and sit in the front row for every show!
The magical fun made Luke more carefree than he had been since before the diagnosis, and the smiles plastered across the boys’ faces made Luke’s parents forget about their struggles back home as well. “Luke forgot he had cancer,” his mother told us.
The family was thankful to finally spend time together without Luke’s disease being at the forefront of their thoughts. Although he still has a long road of tests and treatments ahead of him, Luke will always have these fond memories to help him persevere through his recovery. He truly had the time of his life!
