For more than five months 13-year-old Bobby was confined to a hospital room, receiving treatment for his aplastic anemia. But his family was always there to support him, and Bobby passed the time with them talking about his fondest wish.
Bobby had always been interested in the United States Marine Corps, and when it came time to declare his wish, he knew he wanted to be a Marine...just like his dad.
Bobby arrived at Quantico ready to fully experience boot camp. The experience was even more exciting and realistic than he ever imagined. He drilled with the Officer Candidates School drill instructors, led physical training in front of a group of real Marines, rode in a river craft, and learned hand-to-hand combat techniques. With help from the Marines at Quantico, Bobby became a Corporal, and his parents proudly pinned his stripes to his uniform.
In his wish story video, Bobby and his family share details of their experience and the life-changing impact of Bobby's wish come true.
