Luke's Wish Is A Hole-In-One

Luke golfing!

Luke loves mini-golf so much that he sleeps with his putter at night!

When Luke was asked his special question, "If you could have one wish what would it be?" Luke's thoughts centered on two things: his beloved golf putter and legos!

For a strong little guy who loves mini-golf, Luke had no doubts about making his wish and what he wanted to wish for.  Luke's wish was to go mini-golfing in as many places as he could, and Florida proved to be the perfect place for him to practice his favorite sport.

This past summer, Luke and his family traveled down to Florida where Luke's fondest wish was granted. While Luke was in Florida, he visited many mini-golf sites including Pirate's Cove, Winter Wonderland, Fantasia's Gardens, and Congo River.  Luke was even able to spend a day at LEGOLand®!

When Luke returned from his exciting golfing adventure, he sent us pictures and a limerick written by his dad.  We think our wish families give the best feedback and would like to share it with you:

Ode to Make-A-Wish by Luke’s Dad:

There once was a little boy named Luke
Whom Leukemia had laid low by fluke
He fought like a champ
In order to stamp
Out a disease that is truly no joke

When Luke had beaten his formidable foe
Make-A-Wish said ‘where would you like to go?’
He said Legoland, Disney
And mini-golf a-plenty
And within weeks we were off to the airport in a stretch Limo

We were met in Orlando by a Make-A-Wish team
With balloons to celebrate the start of the dream
Then we were off to the parks
Where Luke had a great lark
And occasionally let out a big scream

We played 6 mini-golf courses in 5 days
A world record I would venture to say
There were pirates and alligators
And many a Disney character
Luke had the time of his life and wanted to stay!

Our trip to Legoland was a real blast
We learnt from a Master Builder who was very fast
It was hot, hot, hot
But Luke didn’t stop
He wanted it to last and last and last

And of course there was the Magic Kingdom
With characters, rides and then some
It was a great end
To a week with friends
To celebrate Luke’s victory over his foe most fearsome

So we say thank you for the generous donations
Of the Make-A-Wish members and organizations
You made Luke’s day/week/year
And caused him to cheer
And look forward to a life without Leukemic tribulations

Luke's Thank You

Thanks again for your amazing generosity and efforts! ”
